Time Shifter Privacy Policy

Who we are

OTC Soft provides Time Shifter for macOS, iPhone and iPad, including iPhone Duo, widgets and Live Activities. The App Store listing is named Time Shifter Plus. This policy covers the apps. OTC Soft is responsible for personal information it receives, such as support correspondence.

Local time data

Time Shifter stores projects, groups, names, colors and symbols, time quotas, entry dates and durations, timer state and preferences in a database on your device. Synchronization records also contain identifiers and change metadata. Your project information may contain personal data if you choose to enter it.

No separate Time Shifter account is required. We do not operate a server that receives your time entries.

Private iCloud synchronization

When sync is enabled, the app sends projects, groups, quotas, time entries, timer state and synchronization metadata to your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit service. Metadata includes record identifiers, change dates, a device identifier for timer ownership and deletion markers. An iCloud account identifier is stored locally to keep data associated with the correct account.

This database belongs to your Apple Account. Its contents are not accessible to OTC Soft through Apple's developer portal. The app does not publish your time records to a public database or share them with other users.

iCloud sync can be enabled by default on iPhone and iPad when available. Check Settings > iCloud in Time Shifter to view or change this preference. Local tracking works without sync. Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not automatically erase existing copies.

Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policies. Your iCloud storage, account settings and Apple's backup and retention practices apply.

Purchases

Apple handles purchases, billing, payment details and refunds. The app uses StoreKit to read verified product and transaction identifiers, entitlement status, and expiration or revocation dates to determine tracking access. Access-related values may be stored locally to manage a running timer.

OTC Soft does not receive your card number or Apple Account password. Apple may provide its standard sales and subscription reports, including purchase-related identifiers and country or region. We use them to administer purchases and understand business performance.

Deleting data or uninstalling Time Shifter does not cancel a subscription. Manage subscriptions through your Apple Account settings.

Activity detection and system features

Optional Mac features use time since keyboard or mouse activity and sleep, wake and screen-lock events to identify idle or untracked periods. They do not record what you type, screen contents, audio or video, the contents of other apps, or the websites you visit.

The iOS app and its own widget extension share a local snapshot of project, quota and timer information. Project names, elapsed time or quota information may appear on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island or in notifications, where others may see them. Manage widgets, Live Activities, notification permissions and previews in device settings. Apple handles system notification and iCloud synchronization delivery.

Exports and support

CSV files contain the time information you select. You choose where to save or share them. Copies held by another app, service or device are controlled by that destination and are not removed when you delete records in Time Shifter.

When you contact support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information. We use correspondence to respond, resolve issues and maintain necessary support records. Our email service provider processes it to deliver and store messages.

Diagnostics and sharing

The app has no advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Apple may make aggregate app reports and crash diagnostics available according to your Apple privacy and diagnostic-sharing settings. Local system logs or information you send to support can also help diagnose problems. We use such information to investigate failures and improve the app. Apple processes information for its own services under Apple's privacy policies.

Apple and providers needed for support may process information outside your country under their applicable privacy terms and safeguards. We may disclose information we hold if legally required, or as necessary to protect rights and security.

Retention, deletion and security

Your local time records remain until you delete them or remove the app's stored data. Use the app's entry and project controls to delete records. With sync enabled and connectivity available, deletion changes are synchronized. Minimal identifiers and deletion markers may remain to prevent deleted records returning; those markers do not retain deleted record content.

Turning sync off or uninstalling does not necessarily remove iCloud data, copies on other devices, exports or backups. Mac application data may remain after uninstalling. Contact support for guidance on removing local data or managing cloud copies. Apple controls retention of information it holds, including purchase records and backups.

We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to address requests, maintain necessary records or meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it.

The app relies on Apple's device protections and CloudKit security. Protect your device and Apple Account, and take care when sharing exports or displaying project names on the Lock Screen. No method of storage or transmission guarantees absolute security.

Your rights

You can review, correct, delete and export time records using the app. We cannot retrieve your private iCloud records for you because we do not have access to that database.

Where applicable law provides, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information held by OTC Soft, or object to processing. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. You may complain to your local data protection authority.

For information we receive, we handle support requests to provide the service you ask for, troubleshoot and secure the app based on our legitimate interests, and meet legal obligations. Where consent is required, it is the basis for that processing. We do not use this information for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Updates and contact

We will update this policy when data practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate app or website notice.
