Getting started

Add a project, then select it to start tracking. Selecting another project switches your timer. Use the Stop or Resume control as needed. Projects can be organized into groups with colors, symbols and time quotas.

On Mac, the timer lives in the menu bar. On iPhone, use the Timer screen. Wider iPad and iPhone Duo layouts show the Dashboard beside the timer and projects.

Purchases and restore

Monthly, annual and lifetime purchases provide the same full access. Tracking requires an active subscription or a lifetime purchase. Eligible subscriptions offer a seven-day trial; Apple determines eligibility and shows the price and billing period before you confirm.

Open Settings > Account for Purchase Options, Restore Purchases and Manage Subscription. Restore with the Apple Account used for the purchase. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

Previously recorded history remains available to view and export when subscription access ends.

iCloud sync

Use the same Apple Account for iCloud on your devices and enable sync in Time Shifter's Settings > iCloud. Projects, groups, quotas, time entries and timer state use your private iCloud database.

If changes are delayed, confirm both devices are online, signed into iCloud, have available iCloud storage, and are running the latest app. Open each app to allow it to catch up. Local changes remain stored for synchronization when connectivity returns; background delivery timing is controlled by the operating system.

Turning sync off stops future synchronization but does not automatically erase existing local or cloud copies.

Reports and export

Use Dashboard and Timesheet to review your time, correct entries or add work you forgot to track. CSV export lets you save entries or project totals for spreadsheets and reporting. Exported files are separate copies; deleting an app entry does not remove them.

Widgets and Live Activities

Add a Time Shifter widget from your device's widget gallery. Widgets can control your timer, while a Live Activity shows a running session on the Lock Screen and in Dynamic Island. Check notification and Live Activity permissions in device settings if a system surface is unavailable.

Privacy and data removal

See the Time Shifter Privacy Policy for local storage, iCloud, purchases and your choices. Use the app's entry and project controls to delete time records. Contact support for guidance on removing local application data or managing iCloud copies.
